This camera has a short-stroke film advance; there are 30 degrees of movement that are not engaged with the film advance this will result in your thumb resting in a different (but ergonomically comfortable) position than what you might be used to from some other SLRs. Additionally, the end of the film leader slots into the take-up spool in the other direction than what you might be used to some other SLRs.  As with all cameras, we suggest you consult a manual upon initial operation to familiarize yourself with this specific camera.  The mirror will lock up if the voltage is too low for electronic metering.
